Large Baccarat Paper Weight Sand Dune & Rock 1880

Baccarat “Sand Dune” paperweight made around 1880. It consists of green glass and shiny reflective mica piled up to create a rock or sand dune effect. The mica and the encasement glass have different cooling rates so creating fractures on the “sand” which makes the weight glisten and sparkle. This is the main feature of these paperweights and very difficult to capture in a photo - the weight is much more attractive in person.
Original slightly concave base. The surface of the glass has the usual few surface scratches - no chips and nothing major. This weight has NOT been repolished.
